I want you to meet the gentle person inside you. I know they exist, I’ve met mine on occasions. It took me a long time to realize that they taught us to be resilient, taught us to be tough, but no one ever explained how to care for this other part of ourselves. Gentle, as the one who observes where it hurts and knows where never to touch you. Gentle, as pretending you weren’t crying. Gentle, as living inside the darkest room of your heart and still remembering to open your windows, as laughing to yourself for no particular reason. Gentle, as the sun finding its way after a storm.
